Challenge

Mobily’s existing ServiceNow setup was due for a major upgrade. Their existing ServiceNow instance was running on an older version. The organization needed a strategic transformation that would align with its IT release processes, simplify architecture, and support future growth. Their goal was clear: upgrade, simplify, and future-proof the entire ServiceNow landscape.

Their challenges included:

  • An outdated ServiceNow version that limited functionality and plugin support.
  • A MySQL-based server environment that needed migration to Oracle DB to align with internal standards.
  • Lack of a pre-production environment, which limited proper testing and release processes
  • No server for disaster recovery, posing risks to business longevity
  • A fragmented architecture that made maintenance and adaptability difficult.

Solution

Plat4mation led an intense and through transformation of Mobily’s ServiceNow environment.

The project included:

  • Upgrading the ServiceNow instance to the latest version.
  • Migrating all data, workflows, scripts, reports, dashboards, events, alarms, and integrations from the old MySQL server to a new Oracle-based infrastructure.
  • Delivering a full suite of environments: Development, System Integration Testing (SIT), Pre-Production, Production, and Disaster Recovery.
  • Implementing a standby server to assure business continuity in case of system failure.
  • Integrating the platform with Mobily’s Source Code Control System to improve maintainability and support structured release cycles.
  • Enabling new plugins and capabilities to support future innovation.
  • Simplifying the overall architecture to reduce complexity and improve performance.

This approach addressed Mobily’s immediate needs and also aligned with their long-term IT strategy.

Results

The transformation resulted in a modern and maintainable ServiceNow platform. Mobily now benefits from improved system reliability, streamlined operations, and better disaster recovery capabilities. The simplified architecture allows for easier upgrades and better performance. The migration to Oracle DB ensures compatibility with internal systems, while the integration with Source Control streamlines development and maintenance.

With multiple environments in place, Mobily can now test and implement changes with confidence, they are well positioned to expand their IT operations.

Most importantly, this project added to Mobily’s commitment to operational efficiency, creating a strong foundation for continued innovation in the telecom sector.
