Learn how organizations operate and collaborate with different departments like IT, Operations, HR, Facilities, or Finance. Team up with other high potentials to analyze business situations, define and develop solutions, and train customer end users. At the end of this traineeship, you’ll know whether business IT is the right career direction for you and what role you like best.

Jump on board our 2-year IT Technical Consultancy Traineeship if you want to explore the technical side of business IT. Learn how organizations operate and see which IT strategy, operating model redesign, capability assessment and sourcing assessment works best for each specific challenge. After this traineeship, you’ll know better how to develop yourself further as an IT Technical Consultant based on your newly gained experiences and knowledge.

Getting started (1st month)
We’re kicking off with an introduction month together with the other colleagues, so you get to know each other. You’ll learn about Plat4mation’s way of working and take your first steps on the ServiceNow platform.
Take the plunge! (2-6 months)
Start working on your first (international) project as IT consultant, where you’ll really get to know what life is like as IT consultant. Through professional skills trainings, we help you gain the skills you need like expectation and meeting management and presentation skills. You’ll also acquire your industry standard certifications like Agile/Scrum and ITIL and keep learning more about ServiceNow. During intervision sessions, you get to share your experiences and set goals for personal development in small groups. You’ll also join your first Fun4U events and team building activities!
Build up your knowledge (6-12 months)
This period is marked with focus on professional skills, career path and team building. You’ll continue to follow professional trainings, join intervision sessions and acquire more certifications like Prince 2. Join other internal assignments in other areas and get more responsibilities. And….we’ll make sure there’s plenty of fun to be had as well!
Grow into a professional (12-18 months)
You’ll continue your learning path as in the previous months with professional trainings, intervision sessions and certifications. You’ll enjoy another week off with all trainees to focus on professional skills, career path and team building. You get the opportunity to try out even more different roles to see what suits you.
By now, you’ve either already experienced our famous hackathon or are about to. During this 3-day event, we innovate on the ServiceNow platform in teams—resulting in cool integrations and solutions for ourselves and customers. For example, in 2020 we connected a Tesla to ServiceNow! The hackathon will be an epic experience you’ll never forget.
Spread your wings (18-24 months)
By now, you’ve become a real IT Business/Technical Consultant, having acquired the basic skills, certifications and received the necessary coaching to make you successful. In this period, we’re going to let you spread your wings more. You’ll have the option to work from a customer site or in consultation, abroad. After 24 months, we have clear growth paths to continue your journey to become an architect, Project manager, Delivery lead, Client account lead, specialist or many other opportunities.

What does an average day of a trainee look like?
You start off your day either at home, the office or a customer site. This will vary depending on your responsibilities for that day.
We work agile (you’ll learn more about this!), so we start our days with a short 15-minute Daily Stand-up with the (customer) team. This team consists of functional and technical IT consultants that together support a business process. You’ll discuss what you’ve done the day before and what you’re going to do today. There’s also time to discuss any roadblocks, so the team can help you get back on track. Now, you’re up to date about what others are doing and you can ask for support if needed.
Then it’s preparation time. For example, for a training/presentation that you’ll provide, or an interview with a stakeholder to discuss a certain topic, or a demo of a solution you’ve built.
You host the training or presentation, conduct the interview, or deliver the demo. Based on the feedback you get, you determine your next steps.
Based on all the input you received this day, you update the actions, describe and share decisions and schedule meetings with people to align and resolve any unclarities or issues.
What do I do after my traineeship?
After your traineeship, you’ll have explored different companies. So, now it comes down to what you want. We’re there to support you in any decision you make. Your coach is right by your side, an experienced IT expert, who can help you make a final decision. Intervision sessions with other trainees will also help you define your growth path. Chatting to your colleagues and asking about their growth path and what made them decide to go in a certain direction can help you determine your next steps as well.
Does Plat4mation offer a flexible workplace?
Most definitely. Your work location is flexible (home, office or customer site) as well as your working hours, as long as you’re able to meet the people you need to be successful.
We do have some advice on this topic though:
- Come to the (customer) office frequently to bond and connect with others
- Stay over for a drink on Fridays, and have so much fun that you miss the last train home 😉
- Take the opportunity to work and live abroad for 6 months
- Explore all four customers, even if the first is a match made in heaven. Experiencing different company cultures will help you grow as a professional.
Do I need an IT degree or experience to apply for these traineeships?
No, absolutely not! We’ve seen artists, biologists and pilots becoming great IT professionals. It’s more important that you’re smart, have a growth mindset and the ambition to bring IT to a higher level. That is all way more important than your background.
